The family of Mombasa-based singer Ali Khamisi Mwaliguli popularly known as Ally B has asked the entertainment industry not to play his songs.
Speaking during his burial ceremony held at Maziara ya Cobra cemetery in Mishomoroni, Mombasa county on Thursday, November 2, 2023, the family led by his brother urged DJs, radio presenters, news anchors and fans not to play his music because of religious reasons.
“Tunaomba news anchors, radio presenters, ma-dj, tafadhali naomba, nyimbo za Ally msicheze. Tafadhali naomba. Msicheze miziki yake tena. Naomba iwe anayetaka akimkumbuka amtilie dua. Lakini msipige miziki yake, tafadhali. Twaomba. Nyimbo zake tosha. Muombeeni lakini msipige miziki yake. Mimi kama ndugu yake nimesema,” he said.
This loosely translates to:
"I am kindly pleading with news anchors, radio presenters, DJs, to stop playing Ally's songs. It should not be that now that he has died, you play his songs. Do not play his songs again. Whoever remembers him, should just pray for him but don't play his music. Please pass the message, it's sad. Enough of his music. Pray for him but don't play his music,"
Ally B dies
Ally B died at the Coast General, Teaching and Referral Hospital in Mombasa on Wednesday, November 1, 2023.
His family, while confirming his demise, noted that the singer returned home on the said day and he informed them that he was not feeling well.
“We took him to Makadara, but he did not make it,” his brother Mohammed Ramadhan said.
Fellow musicians in the industry such as singing duo CSM Wazito mourned the departed artiste and condoled with his family.
"We're in deep grief to announce the death of our big brother Ally B Khamisi. May his soul Rest In Eternal Peace. Rest in Peace Bro (sic)," the duo said
The musician will be remembered for hit songs such as Maria, Mkufu Wangu, Bembea, Kadzo, Naona Raha and Ziki La Nazi, among others.
