Two killed, one seriously injured in Naivasha early morning accident

Two people have lost their lives in an early morning accident along the busy Naivasha - Nairobi highway. 

Sources close to K24 Digital say that the driver of the ill-fated vehicle was overtaking when he collided with an oncoming vehicle. 

The Monday, November 29, road accident comes after a report by the National Police Service (NPS) indicated that 98 more drivers perished in road accidents in 2021 compared to 2020 where only 213 lost their lives.

The survey conducted by police further placed pedestrians as the highest number of casualties of road accidents in 2021 at 1,111 which is 184 up compared to 2020.

520 passengers died in 2021 compared to 331 who lost their lives on the road in the previous year.

Of the passengers who lost their lives in 2021, 891 were on motorcycles while 61 were cyclists.

As per the survey, the total fatalities from road accidents in 2021 currently stand at 3,212, which is an increase of 652 compared to 2020.
