Harambee Stars players reaped big rewards after beating Tanzania’s Taifa Stars 3-2 in an entertaining Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2019 Group C match played on Thursday.

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has revealed that each player in the team will pocket bonuses worth Ksh250,000 for beating Taifa Stars in Thurday’s comeback.

FKF has also confirmed that players will receive other hefty bonuses stipulated to motivate the players as they hope to earn a round of 16 position in the 2019 AFCON on Monday.

“We had discussed even before coming to Egypt in every win Kenya gets at the Afcon, we will give each player Ksh 250,000 as bonuses,” FKF Media Liaison Officer Barry Otieno said in an interview with Goal on Saturday.

It is reported that each Harambee Stars player will each earn Ksh 900,000 for taking part in the AFCON 2019 tournament in Egypt.

The National team players had also pocketed Ksh 750,000 for attending the training camp in France before the AFCON 2019 showpiece.

At least a draw against Senegal will put Harambee Stars, who making their sixth appearance in the competition, in a better position to qualify for the knockout stages for the first time in history.

Injury boost

Defenders Philemon Otieno and Joash Onyango are set to return from injuries in what is seen as a major boost to Harambee Stars defence against The Lions of Teranga.

Joash Onyango missed Kenya's first two matches against Algeria and Tanzania.
