Mully Children’s Family (MCF) FC head coach Robert Orangi is optimistic his team will carry the coveted FKF Northern Zone Division 1 title despite being their first season in the competitive league.

The former coach of National Super League sides Kangemi All Stars coach and Ushuru FC believes the newly-crowned Division Two winners have the right players, pace and depth to win the competitive league which kicks off next month.

“Since I have coached a team in Division One and helped them get promoted, I know the tactics I will deploy to see MCF bag the trophy in their debut season.

My plan is to bring in two or three strikers because I have been using midfielders in that position,” said Orangi, whose side stunned local rivals Machakos United FC 3-0 in the promotion final at Kenyatta Stadium, Machakos at the weekend.

He added: “The new league requires a lot of paces and the players I have will be up to the task. I plan on winning all the home matches that will see us go in the mid-season in a favourable position.”

“I am glad that former Gor Mahia defender Ivan Anguyo is among our players because he brings experience at the back and he will play a pivotal role in helping the team achieve its goal of being the first team from Machakos to play in the Kenyan Premier League,” said Orangi.

Against Machakos, John Mark was the hero for MCF as he grabbed a brace before Marcus Wetindi made it 3-0.

In the semi-finals, MCF edged out Matuga 2-0 courtesy of Marcus Wetindi and Olunga Odhiambo’s goals while Machakos booked a slot in the finals after beating Mombasa-based Shanzu FC 3-0 on penalties after a barren draw in regulation time.
