Bett, Chirchir star at Kericho track and field meeting

Edwin Bett and Evelyn Chirchir starred in the men’s and women’s 10,000m during the seventh Regional Track and Field Athletics Champions held in Narok Stadium on Saturday. 

Running as an individual, Bett won the race when he crossed the finishing line with a time of 30:14.7 while Chirchir representing Nakuru County ran at a time of 33:11.5.

Bernard Kibet (Kericho) was second in the men’s category after clocking 30:23.8 while Bernard Kipkemoi (Nakuru) clinched the third slot with a time of 30:37.6.  

Track star Sandra Chebet (Kericho) was beaten by Chirchir to the second place in the women’s category. Chebet crossed the finishing line with a time of 33:14.2 while Gladys Cherono (Bomet) was third with a time of 34:04.0. 

In the 5,000m both women and men athletes from Kericho outsmarted others and scooped top positions. Eva Cherono and Geoffrey Koech won the race in the both categories. Cherono clocked 16:30.1 while Koech crossed the finishing line with a time of 13:47.0.

Jackline Rotich (Kericho) came second in the women’s category with a time of 16:35.6 while Immaculate Anyango (Bomet) was third after a running with a time of 16:44.6. 

Renowned Ferguson Rotich (Kericho) triumphed in the 1,500m men’s category after crossing the finishing line with a time of 03:44.5 while Bernard Kipkorir  (Bomet) came second with a time of 03:45.6. Newton Kipkirui  (Nakuru) clinched the third slot with a time of 03:45.7.
