A youthful woman is suspected to have been brutally murdered and her body set on fire in her apartment in Kitengela.

Nicholas Omondi, the flat caretaker, says they were forced to break into the woman's house on Thursday morning June 30 2022, after spotting smoke billowing from her apartment.

"There was a huge black smoke and we thought the tenant had left and the house was burning. When we broke into the house, we found that our tenant was burning. All her household goods were collected together under the bed including an empty gas cylinder. The house had stains of blood and plucked hair," Omondi said.

The woman had many male visitors

The woman only identified by neighbours with one name is reported to have lived on the third floor of the four-storey building for three months.

According to neighbours' accounts, the 'skinny chocolate lady didn't engage other tenants and was only spotted while checking in with male friends from time to time.'

The neighbours further disclosed that the deceased worked at an apparel company in Athi-river.

They claim the woman who lived alone had a known boyfriend but was frequently spotted accompanying different males into her house.

A neighbour who sought anonymity claimed that the woman often engaged in quarrels with her boyfriend, whom they say they knew, over allegations of cheating.

"We suspect the woman might have been murdered over a love triangle issue. She is a woman who was always in the company of different men. She once told me her boyfriend has a hint that she is cheating on him and is bitter. She said they had discussed the matter and the boyfriend who used to pay her rent forgave her," the neighbour said.

"We know her by one name but she uses different baptism names for unknown reasons, "Anne Taki, another neighbour told K24 Digital.

Other neighbours described her as a chocolate, skinny, calm and stylish woman.

Isinya sub-county police commander Ancient Kaloki said police immediately commenced investigations into the incident.

A detective privy to the ongoing investigations says police are pursuing a bodaboda rider who frequented the woman's house and who is also said to be her boyfriend.

Residents called on security agencies to hasten investigations to establish what could have transpired.

The woman's body was moved to Kitengela sub-county hospital mortuary.
