A woman has been placed under mandatory quarantine in Kisii Medical Training Institution after escaping from a similar facility in Kericho County.

The woman is said to have travelled from Uganda before being quarantined in Kericho after which she escaped and travelled using public transport to a densely populated area around Daraja Mbili near Kisii town.

According to the County Criminal Investigations Officer, Geoffrey Kathurima, the woman kept switching her phone on and off but was lastly tracked at Mwamogesa estate.

She has since been put under mandatory isolation at KMTC Kisii branch as health officials in collaboration with the detectives continue with contact tracing process.

This comes even after the Ministry of Health announced that nine people, including children, have been put under mandatory quarantine in Homa Bay County after disobeying travel restrictions.

The government warned that those found to have escaped from quarantine and those aiding the act will face the full force of the law, after undergoing the laid down health protocols.
