Police officers on the wee hours of Saturday morning nabbed a lady who used stupefying drugs on a man early this month before stealing from him.

Nancy Njeri Maina allegedly went into hiding after drugging Michael Mwangi and stealing Ksh210,000 from him.

The matter was reported at Naromoru Police Station in Kieni East, Nyeri County on November 9 under Occurrence Book (OB) number 2 but officers did not manage to trace the suspect.

In the report, Njeri and Mwangi met at Wilfra Bar located in Chaka town where she went ahead and used the stupefying drugs commonly known as ‘mchele’ before she stole from him.

“They met at Wilfra Bar within Chaka town and the lady stole Sh210,000 from the complainant,” the report read in part.

For the last three weeks, sleuths attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) worked round the clock with the aim of arresting Njeri in vain as she had left Nyeri for Bungoma.

This prompted the detectives to hatch a plan on how they could go after the suspect and they settled for Friday as the ideal day.

The sleuths once in Bungoma Couny traced her phone signals to Kandunyi.
Njeri was later cornered and arrested at the Kandunyi Inn Bar.

The officers searched her and she was nabbed with two new Tecno phones in which one was mounted with a sim card number that was used to steal the money from the complainant’s phone.

Detectives said that it is the sim card that assisted them trace the suspect.
Currently, the suspect is in custody where she is assisting police officers in the investigations.

The police report which was shared amongst all stations located in Nyeri County also asked officers to check on their records whether they had any complaint against the suspect who gave them hard time before they finally arrested her.

“All Stapols Nyeri County check from your records if you have any similar cases reported at your stations in connection to stupefying drugs and the suspect for identification purposes,” the report read in part.

Cases of revelers being drugged before money and other valuables are stolen from them have been on the increase in the recent past.
