Woman stabs her friend to death for snatching her boyfriend

Police in Kisumu are hunting for a 22-year-old woman who allegedly stabbed her friend over a love triangle.

The suspect identified as Mishael stabbed her friend Merceline Awino, 21, over allegations that she had snatched her boyfriend.

The incident occurred on September 28 at 2:00 am in Kasawino market, Manyata area within Kisumu East Sub-county.

Confirming the matter, Kisumu East OCPD James Musyimi said the matter was reported to the station by a witness a few hours after the incident.

The police boss told K24 Digital that the deceased was walking with the suspect's boyfriend when the suspect confronted her demanding answers.

"That was when an argument ensued and the suspect stabbed the deceased on the left side of the chest before fleeing leaving her bleeding profusely," he said.

He added that she was rushed to the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching And Referral Hospital (JOOTRH) in a critical condition but unfortunately she succumbed today at 2:00 am.

Musyimi pleaded with the youths to seek advice from law enforcement agency's whenever they are aggrieved or to resort to counselling on issues that affect their lives.

"This is a case of love triangle and I want to advise that as one indulges in love affairs, they should consider that to be accepted as a lover is an option and not a right," he said.

He also asked parents to be watchful to avoid such misfortunes.

The OCPD also warned members of the public against taking law into their hands.

"It is very unfortunate that the suspect who is still a young girl will be charged with murder at a very young age, "he said.

The body of the deceased has been moved to JOOTRH mortuary awaiting postmortem.
