Woman kills her three children, hangs self over alleged husband neglect

A mother of three on Friday, February 4, committed suicide after killing her three kids.

According to police, Mollen Akinyi, 32, died leaving behind a suicide note which stated that she had been neglected by her husband who is a Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) officer identified as Felix Omondi who is currently based in Mombasa.

A police report seen by K24 Digital revealed that Akinyi was found hanging in her bedroom corridor.

“The body of one Mollen Akinyi, 32, was found hanging at the bedroom corridor from the rooftop of the house with a rope tied around her neck,” the report read in part.

Akinyi is a mother of three children aged; one, six and 10 years respectively.

The three minors named; Brandon Onyango, Trevor Omondi and Raddy Kesley were found dead with foam oozing from their mouth.

The matter was reported to the police by Johnson Mugambi who is an agent of a residential plot in Teachers B Estate located in Gilgil township.

According to Mugambi, he was alerted by one of the residents of the plot.

“A foul smell was emanating from the house which prompted officers from Gilgil Sub County to immediately rush to the scene where they broke into the house,” the report further read.

The scene was processed by crime scene personnel and the body was moved to Gilgil Sub-County hospital awaiting postmortem.
