Kajiado: Woman kills her newborn baby, keeps body under bed for 3 months

Police in Kajiado have arrested and detained a 34-year-old woman identified as Felister Mumo for allegedly killing her new born baby and dumping the body in her house for three months.

The matter was brought to police attention by Mumo's 14-year-old daughter who said that their house in Majengo slums has become inhabitable due unbearable choking smell.

In a chilling narration, the Class Seven pupil tearfully narrated how she intended to cover up for the mother's henious act but the smell become unbearable.

Detectives rushed to the woman's house and found remains of a baby in a bucket under the bed.

Confirming the incident, Kajiado Central Sub-county Police Commander Daudi Loronyokwe said the woman will be arraigned in court tomorrow as police launch investigations into the bizarre incident.

Loronyokwe urged parents to seek help when they're not in a position to address their children's issues instead of committing such heinous acts.

"It is so unfortunate that the life of such a young soul has been ended by the person who ought to have taken care of it. We have launched investigations into the incident," Loronyokwe said.

Shocked neighbours mewled around the house marked as a scene of crime expressing dissatisfaction and anger over the beastly act.

Neighbours confirmed to have seen her pregnant and even aware when she gave birth but say to have always assumed the new born stays indoors as it is the norm and practice among newborns.

"She carried her pregnancy successfully and I even saw the baby the day she gave birth. I am shocked and disheartened as a woman. This is a big blow and shame to women," a neighbour wailed.

Neighbours say the mother of two spent most of the day indoors and stepped out occasionally and that her means of eking a living is not defined and known.

It has so far been established that she gave birth at a clinic within the town on July 16, 2022.

Detectives will also be seeking to examine the mental state of the woman.

The remains were taken to Kajiado Referral hospital morgue.
