A 35-year-old woman in Likoni sub-county, Mombasa county is crying for justice after she was forcefully abducted by officials of Fadhili Microfinance Enterprise over failure to repay Ksh25,000 loan.

Joyce Njoki claims that she was picked by the officials from the microfinance who escorted her to Inuka Police Station.

However, officers drawn from the station declined to prefer criminal charges against her and advised the officials to file a civil suit.

"Upon our return to the station to draft an agreement,l was locked up in one of the rooms in the office and left there for the night. They told me that they would release me upon payment of the money. I then called 999 and fortunately, police responded and came to my rescue the following day," she said.

She further acknowledged having defaulted on repayment of the loan due to the COVID-19 pandemic when her business was affected.

"I had managed to repay a huge sum of my loan but due to delayed payments l was slapped with more arrears and that is how l got into debts with the financial institution," she said.

Njoki now claims that her life is in danger following the abduction ordeal since no one has been arrested in connection with her abduction despite her having reported the matter under OB number 02/22/03/2020.

"I reported the matter at Likoni police station but no one has been arrested despite continued threats that they will kidnap me once more unless l clear the loan," she said.

On her part, Fadhili Micro Enterprise Director Rehema Nzai declined to pick up calls. She did not reply to our text messages as well.

Likoni sub-county police commander Peter Karanja said that he was not aware of the matter since he is away.

"I'm not aware of that particular case but l will check to establish the investigation's progress," he said.
