Woman in court for strangling neighbour using bra

A middle-aged woman was on Tuesday arraigned before a Kisumu court for allegedly strangling her neighbour with bra.

Jackline Anyango appeared before Chief Magistrate Peter Gesora and was charged with three counts.

According to the charge sheet, Anyango was accused of assault.

The court heard that on the 25th day of June at Obunga she assaulted Vivian Adhiambo by slapping her on the neck and strangling her using a bra.

She was also charged with malicious injury to property contrary to section 339(1) of the penal code.

That on the 25th day of June 2021 at Obunga in Kisumu County the suspect wilfully and unlawfully damaged a radio and a chair; the property of Vivian Adhiambo.

Anyango was also accused of stealing a mobile phone worth ksh15,500.

She however pleaded not guilty to all the charges read to her before court.

In her defence, she told court that the complainant threatened her that she will use all the money she has to ensure that she is locked in.

"She told me that she has a lot of money and she will ensure that I am arrested," she said.

The magistrate on his side released her on a bond of ksh30,000.

The case will be mentioned on September 21.
