A 33-year-old woman who died three weeks after she arrived in Dammam Saudi Arabia is believed to have died during a botched operation to remove one of her kidneys by her employer.
Her husband, Abdulrazik Juma, claims that his wife, Rose Atieno, had made her last distress call to inform him that she had been forced by her employer to undergo surgery to remove one of her kidneys that would be donated to a family member who was ailing.
She arrived in Saudi Arabia on May 23, 2022, and was reported to have died on June 7.
Kidney donation
"l was unable to reach her for over three days. Her mobile phone had been switched off and five days later, she called me with a different number and told me that she had been kidnapped and was being held at a local hospital against her will to donate her kidney," he said.
Juma claims that later on, she did not hear from his wife, and a friend informed him that she had passed on in a hospital where she had been rushed to after she allegedly fell off a ladder while cleaning windows at her employer's house.
Juma added that her body arrived in the country on Tuesday evening through the Moi International Airport and was received by the family.
"When the body arrived in the country and was taken home for the night vigil l had time to mourn my wife and looked closely at her body and found surgical healing marks on her stomach prove enough that she was operated on before she died in unclear circumstances," he added.
