Woman charged with stealing beer, phone worth Ksh141,000

A 27-year-old woman was on Tuesday charged with stealing a phone worth Ksh120, 000 and 120 bottles of beer worth Ksh21,000.

The accused person, Omar is alleged to have committed the offence on March 12, 2022 on Kenyatta Avenue, Nairobi, alongside five other ladies not before the court.

"You are charged that on March 12, 2022, along Kenyatta Avenue in Nairobi with others not before the court, you robbed Joel Mwaura Muiruri of mobile phone make Oneplus T Pro valued at Ksh120,000 and 120 pieces of white cap beer worth Ksh21,000 and immediately at the time of such robbery used actual violence to the said Joel," the charge sheet read in part.

According to a police report seen by K24 Digital, on the material day at around 0400hrs, the complainant was driving his car towards Langata Road and Dagoretti corner while supplying cans of beer to his clients when he was approached by six ladies.

"He had slowed down his car, unfortunately, he had not locked the car doors hence the six ladies easily got access to the doors and opened them," the police report read in part.

During the commotion with the said ladies, the complainant lost a mobile phone worth Ksh120,000 and stole 120 cans of beer worth Ksh21,000.

The complainant in his statement to police said he helplessly watched the ladies drink the cans of white cap beer while threatening to beat him up.

He followed them to the Koja stage where he managed to arrest one of them while the others were throwing stones at him and escorted her to the Central police station.

The woman, who has an eight-month-old baby, was released on a cash bail of Ksh200,000.
