A 23-year-old woman has been arrested after allegedly assaulting her husband in Buruburu, Nairobi.

Police reports indicate that Shantel Mutheu badly beat 33-year-old Kennedy Oshuka after a disagreement at their home over unpaid bills.

The scuffle attracted the attention of a neighbour who found the couple fighting and rescued Oshuka. He was bleeding profusely.

"The neighbour told the police that he heard noise coming from house number 11 belonging to Kennedy aged 33. He rushed to the scene and found the two fighting and Oshuka profusely bleeding," a police report seen by K24 Digital reads in part.

Hospitalised after assault

The victim was rushed to Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital where he is currently admitted in serious condition.

The suspect was placed in custody as police continue with investigations into the incident.

Preliminary investigations, however, indicate that the woman got violent after learning that the lover had not settled the pending bills and started breaking windows.

In a separate incident in Kikuyu, four suspects were on Tuesday arrested after they assaulted a police officer.

The suspects are said to have attacked Constable Alex Orina who had gone to arrest a suspect wanted over burglary.

Upon spotting Orina, the suspect raised alarm and was joined by three other people who started beating the officer. He was later rushed to hospital for treatment.

The arrested suspects were identified as Erick Wabwire, Evans Odhiambo Wabwire, Alice Ayieko and Irene Akinyi Atisa.

The suspects are cooling their heels in custody pending arraignment in court.
