Labour and Relations Court judge Byram Ongaya has temporarily stopped planned impeachment of Mike Sonko as the Nairobi County governor.

sonko impeachment by Nairobi county MCA's pending the hearing of the application filed by sonko

The judge ordered the proposed impeachment motion scheduled for Tuesday not to proceed pending the hearing of the application filed by Governor Sonko.

Sonko's lawyer, Harrison Kinyanjui, told the court that the issue of jurisdiction must be dealt with first.

In his ruling, Justice Ongaya said that the MCAs who plot impeach Sonko stand to suffer no prejudice if the court temporarily halts their ouster motion.
