The body of Charles Oduor Awich, the bishop of Roho Judea Church in Siaya County, was on Friday evening (February 21) found preserved at the Port Victoria Hospital mortuary in Busia County.

The bishop’s wife, Hellen Auma Oduor, was the one who positively identified the body of Awich, who went missing from home over a month ago.

The Siaya County Church Leaders’ Forum Arch-Bishop, James Opiyo, told K24 Digital that Awich was, on January 11, 2020, abducted from his Ndere Village home in Alego-Usonga by unknown people.

A search for him began in earnest. However, it ended in tears a month and eleven days later after Awich’s body was found stashed in the morgue. The bishop had several stab wounds in different parts of his body.

“We have been informed that Awich’s body was taken to the Port Victoria Hospital morgue by police after it was found dumped on the shores of Lake Victoria,” said Opiyo, the county Church Leaders’ Forum chief.

Siaya Sub-County Police Commander, Justus Kucha, said they have begun investigations into Awich’s death.
