Details have emerged on what led to the fight that left a police officer dead at an electronics shop at Nyayo market in Ngara, Nairobi County.

The officer, who was attached to Parklands Police Station, is said to have differed with a shop attendant, Willy alias Rasta, over an old office telephone that was at the stall.

In the police report filed at Pangani Police Station under OB number 76/17/11/2020, Willis argued with the policeman before hitting him in the head, killing him on the spot.

“The owner of the store assaulted the officer on the head with a blow and he fell down on the tarmac road and he stepped on his stomach and died instantly,” the report read in part.

The suspect after realising that the officer was dead, fled towards the Riverside area.

Mr Audrey Karanja Mungenyi, a witness who runs an electronic shop as well, told the police that the two had an argument that lasted over 20 minutes.

The body of the officer was taken to Kenyatta University mortuary as police launched a manhunt to trace the suspect.
