Wednesday power outage to affect 8 counties

The Kenya Power and Lighting Company has announced scheduled power outages partially affecting eight counties on Wednesday, April 24, 2024.

In a statement on Tuesday, the utility firm said the outage, running between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, is part of network maintenance.

"The listed areas will be affected by planned power interruptions tomorrow (24th April 2024). The interruption is part of network maintenance," Kenya Power stated.

Among the counties to be affected include Nairobi, Uasin Gishu, Busia, Kisii, Migori, Homa Bay, Nyeri and Kiambu.

In Nairobi, the outage will affect Ridgeways Lane, Castle Gardens, Garden Estate Academy, Rubies Garden Estate, Samaki Drive, Mountain Mall, Blue Springs, Quiver, Homeland and adjacent customers.

In Uasin Gishu, the whole of Moi University Main Campus, Talai Estate, Cheboigwa, Tulop Village and adjacent customers will be affected.

The areas of Busia County which will be affected by the outage include Lubiri, Khungukhungu, Mundika, Budokomi, Matayos, Igero, Nambale Boys, Siekunya, Busidibu, Okoa Market, Lung'a, Makobio, Sigwata, Mujuru, Nasewa, Buyama, Lung'a Fisheries and adjacent customers.

In Kisii, the outage running from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm will affect Nyabururu Complex, Matoke and adjacent customers.

Parts of Migori that will affected by the scheduled power outage include Uriri, Kamsaki, Koigo, Bware, Kisangura, Kolwal, Kakrao, God Jope, Oyani, Ugari, Warisia, Stellah, Magongo, Rayudhi, Nyasare, Chamkombe, Pinnacle Plaza, Kimadui and adjacent customers.

In Homabay, Denis Obara Secondary School, Orera Primary School, Ramula Market, Ramula Sub-County Hospital, Ramula SubCounty Offices, Ramba Market, KANU Market, Mawego Complex Nad, Lida Market, Ongilo Primary School, Odino Dispensary, Akwara Market, Bware Secondary School and adjacent customers.

In Nyeri, the outage will affect Blue Line, Kakuret, KWS Mt Kenya, Kamburaini, Kiriakor, Soweto, Naromoru Girls, Judea, Meere, Lusoi, Warazo, Ndathi, Mapema, Munyu Aguthi, Gitinga and adjacent customers.

In Kiambu, part of Ruaka Town, Gertrude's Ruaka, Gacharage Primary School, Joyland, Decimo and adjacent customers will be affected by the outage.
