United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate for Kiambu Woman Representative position Anne Wamuratha has finally bowed to pressure and apologised over an incident in which she is captured on camera feeding Ruiru residents a cake in a manner that has been cited as belittling.

Wamuratha, who has been under sharp criticism since Sunday evening when she termed all Kiambu residents as "insane", has sought forgiveness from the residents for the feeding incident that happened five months ago during an event to celebrate the service of a notable journalist.

Wamuratha offers apology

"I wish to confirm that I am the one captured in the viral video throwing pieces of cake to a group of people who had gathered at the Ruiru Stadium for an event on November 7th, 2021. I was the cake matron of the day and errored in crowd control and appropriately sharing the cake," she posted on her Facebook page.

"I deeply, and sincerely, apologize for the action and ask the people to forgive me. If I would turn back the clock, I would distribute the cake differently," she added.

Wamuratha stated that being a mother and a wife, she is determined to bake a larger cake of opportunities for the people of Kiambu and serve them diligently as their woman representative.

"Once again, I sincerely apologise and accept my mistake, it will never happen again," she added.

Leaders, residents, and celebrities have been on Wamuratha's case and they have even crafted comic episodes referring to the scene where she distributed the cake.

Residents have been demanding an apology from Wamuratha who also irked them on Sunday after she claimed that Kiambu has no tea, coffee and dairy farming challenges but mental illnesses.
