Kabete MP Githua Wamacukuru was on Sunday ranked as the best performing lawmaker in Mt. Kenya region Kiambu County, a feat attributed to the prudent use of the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF).
Speaking to K24 Digital, Wamaculuku said that he prioritized the refurbishment of schools.

The MP said that he ensures there is always adequate public participation in all his initiatives.
His focus on education, he said, was informed by the deteriorating education standards in Kiambu County linked to poor infrastructure, child labour, drug abuse, alcoholism, and negligence.
In his Kabete Constituency, Wamacukuru said education standards have improved after his frantic efforts to give schools better infrastructure.
To improve education standards in Kabete, local leaders under the leadership of Wamacukuru started an ambitious and bold school refurbishment initiative two years ago.
"You can't believe that all the 26 primary schools registered remarkably good improvement in last year's Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) results," the MP said during a tour of some of the schools.
Twenty-two of the 26 primary schools were renovated using NG-CDF funds, with works including putting new tiles, plastering classrooms and repairing ceilings.
"As you can see, we have also planted beautiful flowers after landscaping and cabro-paving walkways and parade grounds such that pupils can avoid mud and dust as they learn," said the MP.
Primary schools whose rehabilitation is already complete include Wangige, Gataara, Rukubi, Mahia-ini, Ngure, Muguga, Kirangari, Muguga Model, Kingeero Nyathuna, Kamuguga,Kibiku, Gathiga, Kahuho, Uthiru, Kanjeru, Kanyariri, Kubichiko, Karura ka Nyungu and Ndurarua among others.
The refurbishment is giving private school owners a run for their money with pupils leaving their facilities in droves to attend public schools.
The feeding programs are also mandatory in all the schools with the area leadership chipping in where necessary.
Wamacukuru said that he has had a passion to provide a good quality education environment to the people of Kabete since his childhood.
"When I was young, my parents couldn't afford lunch for me. I used to eat lunch at a friend's home.
"This is why after completing my education, I committed to investing in lunch programs in schools. That is why locals started referring to me as Githua Wamacukuru (schools)," he said.
The Infotrak poll ranked Wamacukuru as the 12th best MP nationally.
