Roots Party presidential flagbearer, George Wajackoyah now says Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) George Kinoti will replace Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i should he win the August 9 polls.

Wajackoyah opined that with Kinoti at the helm of his administration's security docket, he will be in a position to work effectively.

This, he said while speaking at a rally in the Mt Kenya region on Saturday, July 9.

"Kinoti has been dealing with the issue of money laundering but his efforts were marred with political interferences. When Kinoti is my Minister of Interior, I will execute my duties as expected," the professor explained.

At the same time, he pledged that his government will appoint Muthomi Thiankolu, a Lecturer at the University of Nairobi School of Law, as Attorney General.

Wajackoyah echoed his previous sentiments that his administration will have fresh ministers.

"I will sack all the ministers including the Minister for Internal Security. What I know is that we will have a serious ministry for herbs," Wajackoyah noted in an interview with a local station. His statement followed CS Matiang'i's remarks condemning his infamous agenda pushing for the legalization of cannabis.

"Regrettably, we have also observed leaders mobilizing the youth through misinformation and false promises such as legalization of cannabis for commercial and recreational purposes if they are elected to office.

"They have even cited countries that have legalized cannabis for recreational purposes without providing factual information on controls that have been put in place where such legalization has been allowed," Matiang'i said.

Wajackoyah also promised to sack Interior CS Fred Matiangi should he assume power.
