Brian Ndung'u Waititu, the son of former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu, has been released from Industrial Area Prison.
Speaking to K24 Digital, Ndung'u said that one of his friends, Clinton Githinji, paid the Sh30,000 fine on Tuesday, March 16.
Clinton, Ndung'u said, gave him the remaining Sh20,000 that he used to top up the Sh10,000 that he [Ndung'u] had on Monday at the time of his arrest and conviction.

The 25-year-old spent Monday night in prison after he was unable to raise the Sh30,000 fine imposed by a Nairobi court for drink-driving.
In the alternative, Ndung'u risked serving three-month imprisonment for the offense.
The former governor's son was arrested in the wee hours of Monday morning while drink-driving a Toyota Probox on Muindi Mbingu Street in Nairobi County.
Police said that at the time of the arrest, Ndung’u was so inebriated that he was incapable of controlling the car.
He pleaded guilty before Nairobi Senior Principal Magistrate Esther Kimilu and asked for leniency, telling the court that he will not repeat the offense again.
