The University of Nairobi has congratulated President-elect William Ruto for winning the just concluded elections.
In a brief statement on Tuesday, August 16, the University applauded Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua for Monday's victory. The two leaders are alumni of the University of Nairobi.
"The University of Nairobi wishes to congratulate its alumni, President-elect Dr. William Samoei Ruto and his deputy, Rigathi Gachagua!" UoN said in a tweet.

William Ruto graduates from University of Nairobi
The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party leader pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Botany and Zoology from the University of Nairobi. He graduated in 1990.
In December 2018, Ruto graduated with a PhD in Plant Ecology from the same institution.
William Ruto wins hotly contested race
The seasoned politician was declared the winner of the presidential election with 7,176, 141 votes, which is 50.49 per cent of the total votes cast.
The country’s Deputy President narrowly beat Azimio One Kenya coalition leader and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, who garnered 48.5 per cent of the vote.
Leaders from across the world continue to send their congratulatory messages to the president-elect.
Former President of Federal Republic of Somalia Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed Farmaajo said: “I wish to offer my most sincere congratulations to President-Elect of Kenya H.E. William Ruto & the people of Kenyan following the successful conclusion of the elections.”
Abiy Ahmed Ali, Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia wrote: “My congratulations William Ruto on your election as the President of the Republic of Kenya. I wish you the best of luck in your endeavours ahead.”
“I would like to congratulate William Ruto on his election as the 5th president of the Republic of Kenya. The historic conclusion of this process is a testament to your leadership. The bonds between our people are strong. I look forward to working with you on many fronts," Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hamza Abdi Barre, said in a tweet.
Tourism Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala said: "Congratulations on your victory Dr William Ruto, President-Elect, Republic of Kenya. It is by God’s grace and the valid will of the people, you were elected President. You have the ability to transform this country for the betterment of all.”
