President Uhuru Kenyatta has condoled with the family of Bishop Geoffrey Ndung’u Gichure of the African Inland Church (AIC) following the death of his mother, Mama Hannah Wanjora Njoroge.

Mama Hannah Njoroge, 92, passed on at her home in Kirenga, Lari in Kiambu County on Thursday last week after a long illness.

In his message of comfort, President Kenyatta eulogised Mama Hannah as a strong woman of faith who worked hard to raise an upright family that continues to positively impact the Kenyan society.

“It is unfortunate that the ugly hand of death has robbed our country of Mama Hannah Njoroge, a champion of good deeds, who through her hard work, warm personality and industry became a highly respected member of her community.

"Throughout her life, Mama Hannah worked tirelessly to fend for her family by engaging in agribusiness where she cultivated pyrethrum, vegetables and kept dairy cows becoming one of the few women of her time to be involved in modern mixed farming," the President said.

He described Mama Hannah as a beacon of hope and trailblazer whose strong legacy of success as a mother, community leader and entrepreneur will continue to inspire future generations.

“Mama Hannah was a role model within her community who raised an upright family and nurtured several other successful individuals in her community through her wise counsel," the President eulogised Mama Hannah, and prayed to God to grant her family fortitude during this difficult period of mourning.

“To Bishop Geoffrey Gichure and your entire family, I pray that God will comfort you at this difficult time of mourning your dear mother and family matriach. May God’s peace reign supreme in your lives,” the President condoled.
