An Uber driver arrested for molesting a minor in Mombasa was yesterday released on bond after the magistrate asked the prosecution to amend charges saying they were defective.

The suspect is said to have forced a 13-year-old pupil to perform oral sex on him.

Yesterday, Fredrick Njenga, 35, was charged with committing an indecent act with a child but could not plead to the charges and was freed on a  Sh100,00 bond or 50,000 cash bail.

Shanzu Resident magistrate Yusuf Shikada said the charges were to fall under the Sexual Offences Act but added that the “mouth is not a sexual organ.”

The incident is said to have happened on Monday at around 6.30pm when the taxi driver picked the minor from school.

“I had asked my younger sister who was at home at the time to request a cab to pick my boy from school because I was committed elsewhere and  was not able to pick him,” said the boy’s mother. The mother said after arriving home, the boy told her what had happened.
