A prisoner on Wednesday, November 11 tricked a police officer at Kapsoya Police Station in Uasin Gishu leading to the escape of three suspects of robbery with violence who were being held in a cell at the station.
In a police report seen by K24 Digital, the prisoner identified as Elvis Odhiambo tricked two officers at the station at 7 am when he asked to head to the toilet.
The two officers who were on duty at the time of the escape were identified as Gabriel Osundwa and Salome Oduso.

“Elvis Odhiambo knocked the door requesting to be taken to the toilet, the officer in charge proceeded and opened the door allowing the suspect to go to the toilet which is located within the cell building,” the report read in part.
However, the officer who opened the door did not lock it hoping that he would get back.
Police say that Odhiambo went back to the cell called two of his friends whom they were recently charged with robbery with violence namely; Vincent Chege and Muhammad Adan Hussein.
They then went ahead and locked the other prisoners behind before they fled.
“They climbed the wall and into the ceiling before escaping through the roof,” the report read in part.
However, as they were fleeing, Police Constable Osundwa heard a commotion in the celling went to check only to foind the suspects jumping from the roof.
Osundwa went ahead and raised alarm by blowing his whistle before he shot in the air to stop the suspects who continued with their escape.
“He fired six rounds with his AK 47 assault riffle but unfortunately they managed to flee.
A team led by Officer Commanding Station (OCS) launched a manhunt for the suspects and they managed to arrest one Vincent Chege.
The other two are still at large and inquiry file number1/2021 has been opened.
