Two women, Delilah Raila and Evy Cheptoo, have been charged at Kibera Law Courts with obtaining credit from an entertainment joint in Kilimani area, Nairobi by false pretences.

According to Black Stars Lounge, the nightclub where the suspects were arrested, the accused refused to pay their bill after consuming their food and drinks worth Ksh147,250.

The suspects are also being accused of causing disturbance in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by allegedly insulting the bar attendant, one Gregory Nzamba and other revellers.

According to court papers, on the day of the incident (March 6), the two are said to have become unruly at around 2:30 am and started causing disturbances while hurling insults at Nzamba, who they told that they won't pay for the drinks they had consumed.

At the time, Nzamba is said to have tried calming down the two as he pleaded with them to pay their bill but his efforts bore no fruits. This forced him to lock the suspects up in a secluded room as he waited for them to sober up.

When they eventually sobered up, the attendant sought the bill from them but they still refused to pay; forcing him to call police on them and they were later arrested.

Appearing before Senior Resident Magistrate Renee Kitangwa, the two denied the charges and were released on Ksh30,000 cash bail.

The case will be mentioned on March 24.
