Two suspected robbers lynched in Machakos

Two suspected robbers were last evening killed by an irate mob after they hijacked and stole Ksh350K from a woman in Machakos Town shortly after withdrawing the money from the bank.

The two men believed to be below 40 years, hijacked the lady at Kaloleni market of Mua hills and drove away, but on reaching Kyasila Market they threw the lady out of the vehicle she was driving in and drove speedily.

Boda Boda riders who noticed the incident mobilized each other and made a chase of the suspects who managed to be cornered at Ndovoini, Muthwani ward Lukenya location in Athiriver sub-County.

A third suspect also a man narrowly escaped and vanished as the crowd poured their anger on the two beating them ruthlessly.

Speaking to K24 Digital, Lukenya chief Tirus Musyoka said the third man is suspected to have vanished with the cash.

“The suspects were three and the lady wasn’t hurt though, she says they stole Ksh 350,000 from her. We also found three cell phones and national IDs but the police are investigating further,” Musyoka noted.

Either according to eye witnesses, a bunch of keys, clothes, ATM Cards of different people, cell phones, and national identity cards was collected from the vehicle.

Elsewhere, another suspected boda boda thief was on Thursday night peddled with stones and killed at Katani shopping centre by a mob claiming the suspect aided in stealing of motor bike in the town of Mlolongo, Joska, and Katani in Mavoko.

According to Katani Assistant chief Nicholas Wambua, the deceased is suspected to be part of a gang suspected to be involved in several killings and motorbikes theft in the area.

The man is suspected by boda boda riders to be helping a group of thieves who have been robbing them boda bodas and leaving their riders dead,” Wambua stated.

The young man was picked out from his rental house in Katani flogged and set on fire, just hours after the body of another rider was collected in the thicket of Katani and his motorbike missing.

The incident happened hours after a body of a missing boda boda rider was found in Mlolongo and his motorbike stolen.

“The body appears to have been eaten by wild animals and we suspect they were hyenas,” Wambua added.

Machakos county criminal Investigation department has commenced investigations to unearth the whole story.

The Bodies have since been taken to Kangundo level 4 hospital and city mortuary respectively.
