A 12-year-old old girl is admitted at Samburu County Referral Hospital in Maralal town after she was defiled by two men at their home in Lpartuk village, Samburu Central Sub County.

The minor was at their home where she lives with her grandmother when the incident occurred at 1am.

“I was working as a night guard at a nearby school when my niece was defiled. I was informed about the incident and when I rushed I found the girl bleeding while lying on the floor,” Petano Lenaura, an uncle said.

Lenaura said he sought the help of a neighbor who had a vehicle to rush the girl to Samburu county referral hospital noting that at the hospital, doctors had to transfuse her with blood as she had lost a lot of it during the ordeal.

Samburu central sub-county police commander Sylvester Rotich confirmed the incident saying two suspects have been arrested in connection with the offense and would be arraigned in court after investigations.

“We have arrested two suspects who are known to the girl and we will take them to court,” he said.

Rotich advised the youth against defilement as he commended communities for shunning harmful cultural practices such as early marriages and FGM.
