Two pupils set to sit for their KCPE this year are reported to have drowned while on a school trip.

The candidates, one of whom was the school head boy of Comejuu Premier Academy, are said to have drowned in Theta dam in Githunguri, Kiambu county. At the time the teachers were not around to rescue them.

Reports indicate that the school failed to inform the parents about the said trip until the tragedy occurred.

Through one of the victim's family lawyers, the mother identified as Esther Wangui said she received a call from the headteacher on Friday, November 25 at 8:00 pm asking her to go to school quickly without sharing more information.

Before arriving, she was redirected to the hospital where the nurse informed her that his son and another boy had passed away.

The mother says she was told that the two had sneaked while on the said trip before drowning.

"I was told that on Tuesday, the school took candidates for a breather outside the school without involving any parents or teachers. While on the outing, they say my son and another boy sneaked and drowned," the mother said.

She questions why the pupils went for the trip without their parent's consent and are now demanding justice for their kids.
