TSC officers on leave ordered to resume duties ahead of national exams

Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has asked all field officers on leave to resume duties on October 16, 2023.

Speaking during the launch of the 2023 national exams season at the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) headquarters at Mitihani House in Nairobi on Monday, September 25, 2023, TSC CEO Nancy Macharia stated that the latest changes come as part of measures set to enhance the success of the last phase of the preparation of the national exams.

Macharia underscored that the entire directive was also a move by the commission to effectively strategise and plan ahead in preparation for the national examinations.

"As part of our measures to ensure the last phase of the preparations for the national examinations are successful, all TSC field officers who are currently on leave must resume duty on October 16, 2023," the statement reads in parts.

The commission's head went on to acknowledge that TSC had already vetted a total of 223,223 teachers who will serve as supervisors and invigilators to enhance effectiveness during the examination period.

Similarly, 37,731 teachers will serve as examiners during the 2023 national examinations.

"The TSC has vetted a total of ⏩223,223 teachers who will serve as supervisors and invigilators and ⏩37,731 teachers who will serve as examiners for the 2023 national examinations," Macharia added.

According to the institution, rehearsals for the KPSEA and KCSE will begin on October 27, 2023, while the exams will commence on October 30, 2023, and end on November 1, 2023.

Similarly, KCSE candidates will start exams on October 10, 2023 and complete on November 24, 2023.
