Three men were arraigned in court for allegedly stealing from a church in Nairobi’s Dagoretti area.

According to court records, the three- John Munyua, James Kinyanjui and George Wainaina are accused of stealing 27 plastic chairs, and two tables belonging to PEFA church.

The three were reportedly caught with one of the glass coffee tables stolen from the church all valued at Ksh27,000.

On that fateful day, the church’s preacher who is the complainant in the case was alerted that some people were selling the chairs that resembled those that had been recently stolen from their church.

The preacher then arrived at the location where the chairs were seen on auction, after receiving the tip-off where she met two of the three men Munyua and Kinyanjui carrying one of the two tables.

It is said that upon spotting the preacher, the suspects dropped the items and took off forcing the members of the public to give chase.

In the process, one of the accused persons was restrained and handed over to the police for probe leading to the arrest of all three.

They appeared before Kibera senior magistrate Charles Mwaniki and denied the charge and were released on Ksh100, 000 bond with a surety of a similar amount.

The matter shall be mentioned on November 4.
