Transformer explodes at Daystar Valley Road, fire spreads to parking bay

A power transformer at Daystar University, Valley Road campus in Nairobi exploded on Wednesday evening, leaving students, passersby and motorists scampering for safety.

The cause of the transformer explosion remains unclear.

A resultant fire spread aggressively to Daystar University parking bay, with tens of vehicles on the parking lot at risk of going up in flames.

Several motorists could be seen frantically driving out of the parking area.

Efforts to put out the fire were underway as at the time of going to press.
