Principal Magistrate Linus Mesa is dead, the Judiciary has announced.

Mesa was the head of station at Kehancha Law Courts in Migori county before he died.

In a statement issued on Monday, August 30, 2021, the Judiciary said that Mesa was a dedicated judicial officer who rendered his services with exceptional diligence.

"During his period of service to the republic, the late Hon. Mesa discharged his duties diligently and professionally and related well by his seniors, juniors and stakeholders, "reads the statement.

The magistrate joined the Judiciary on July 1, 2009, as a Resident Magistrate and was posted at Boi law courts. He was later promoted to the post of Senior Resident Magistrate on November 9, 2011, and on April 7, 2014, transferred to Marimanti law courts.

Mesa's last posting was at Kehancha Law courts on May 21, 2018, and owing to his good performance was promoted to the post of Principal Magistrate on November 12, 2018.

However, the cause of his death has not been revealed.

"The Judiciary sends its heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and colleagues. May his soul rest in eternal peace," the statement reads.
