Police in Kisii have launched a manhunt for unknown goons who on Wednesday night torched the house of Gekongo Primary Headteacher killing her and husband.

Mogoa Moruri, a retired teacher and his wife were burnt beyond recognition at their home in Itumbe, Bobasi constituency.

Thomas Obare a local told K24 Digital that they were shocked when they arrived at the home which was completely razed down.

“Why should someone want to commit such a heinous act, the two were always kind and loving. We demand justice,” he said.

This was also echoed by yet another local Jane Kerubo who said that she heard wails in the wee hours of Thursday morning and when she made an inquiry of what was happening she was told of the incident.

Kerubo wondered who are the people who committed the heinous act and why they were walking freely during curfew hours.

“Police officers should investigate this matter fully. We need to know who are these people and what their intention was,” she said.

Kisii County police boss Francis Kooli told K24 Digital that already police were on the scene and investigations had already kicked off.

“Police officers are at the scene and we shall ensure that the people behind the heinous act are brought to book,” he said.
