Sleuths have arrested three suspected kidnappers at Makenji, Kandara in Murang'a County hours after they reportedly kidnapped a 35-year-old woman near Toll estate of Juja, Kiambu County.

According to Juja Directorate of Criminal Investigations Officer (DCIO) Richard Mwaura, the three were in company of two more other male victims who were thrown out of the moving vehicle.

Currently, the three suspects are being held at Juja police station as the rescued middle-aged woman is receiving treatment at a nearby hospital.

They are expected to be arraigned to court on Monday next week.

Mwaura said that the three who were using their own vehicle had started demanding a ransom to release the woman.

“The suspects who we already have in custody had already started asking for ransom to release the kidnapped woman," Mwaura said.

Alarm was raised at around 8.00am that a woman, a businessperson who was en route to Nairobi was kidnapped by unknown men who sped off towards Thika town.

Upon receiving the report, police officers dived into action and with reinforcement from the Nairobi team, they managed to trace signals of the suspects and within no time the three were nabbed at Makenji.

Traumatized by the occurrence, the kidnapped woman was rushed to a nearby hospital.

From the suspects' vehicle, police managed to recover six mobile phones and a blood-stained kitchen knife.
