There was jubilation on Thursday after the two secondary school boys who mysteriously disappeared were finally reunited with their family.

The two, Leon Macharia, 15, and his identical twin brother Ryan Mwenda reunited with their family in Rupingazi estate in Embu town after they were found stranded in Ruiru town.

According to Embu West sub-county police commander Julius Kyumbule, the two boys told the police that they were kidnapped by two people who had given them a lift.

Their abductors then drove them to Kasarani and held them hostage at a house for hours.

They, however, managed to sneak out of the house and headed to Ruiru, where they managed to borrow a phone to inform their parents of what had transpired.

Their parents then picked them up and reported the matter at Itabua police station, where they were questioned before being released.

Police dismiss twins' abduction claims

Police dismissed their abduction claims following the interrogation session they had.

"The students are lying. They fled home, but they want us to believe they had been kidnapped. The boys are required to be investigated further because they are not sincere," Kyumbule added.

The two reportedly went missing on Wednesday, July 13, after they had prepared to go to school.

Their mother, Naisera Muthoni, told the press that she was preparing to drop her sons to school.

"They were to report yesterday(Wednesday) in their respective schools. We woke up and started preparing. I entered my room to prepare, but when I came out and found they had left all their school belongings behind and vanished to an unknown destination," Muthoni said.

According to Muthoni, the children never had any indiscipline issues since birth. However, she stated they had raised concern about their wish to study in one secondary school since they are twins.

After reuniting with the two, Muthoni said she was elated to reunite with her sons.

"I'm happy to have my sons safely back home. We are looking for the possibility of taking them to the same school so that their wishes can be fulfilled," she stated.
