A teacher invigilating ongoing Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams in Masalani, Ijara, Garissa County has died.

In an update, the teacher was hit by helicopter propellers after picking up exam papers at the deputy county commissioner's office.

This is according to Garissa County Commissioner Solomon Chesuti who spoke to a local news outlet on Tuesday, November 21, 2023.

Chesuta said the deceased was standing next to the chopper while it took off.

"There was an incident where a teacher died on the spot after being hit by the propellers of a helicopter. We have started investigations," Chesut said.

This incident comes barely a day after two choppers crashed in North Eastern Kenya on Monday, November 20, 2023.

In one of the instances, a helicopter carrying Arabajahan MCA Abey Jimaale crashed at the Wajir Airport runway while taking off.

According to authorities, the MCA alongside two pilots on board were rushed to Wajir County Referral Hospital with various injuries and the aircraft was extensively damaged.

On the other hand, another chopper crashed during take-off in Buna, Wajir North.

The Kenya Defence Forces(KDF) helicopter was supplying food items to flood-affected families.

In an update by Wajir County Red Cross Coordinator Abdia Manya, several people including the pilots sustained injuries.
