"President Samia conveyed her heartfelt condolences to the people of Kenya and urged Tanzanians to join in solidarity with their neighbours during this difficult period as they mourn the death of their former leader," part of the statement read.

Kibaki will be laid to rest at his Othaya home on Saturday, April 30. His national funeral ceremony is currently underway at Nyayo National stadium.

Five roads in the city have been closed to facilitate traffic flow into the stadium.
