A university student was on Wednesday, November 9 stabbed to death at a bar in Noonkopir area of Kitengela after a fight over a woman.

The 26-year-old student is said to have been involved in an argument with an unknown male over a barmaid before being stabbed in the back right-hand side.

According to eyewitnesses, a furious man entered the pub angrily confronting the deceased over having an affair with the bar attendant who he claimed was his lover.

A confrontation ensued and the suspect, who is on the run, removed a sword attacking the deceased prompting other customers to flee.

The deceased was later rushed to Kitengela Sub-county Hospital but succumbed on arrival.

Confirming the incident, Isinya Sub-County Police Commander Ancient Kaloki said the woman in question who is on the ran has positively been identified.

"Unfortunately, a young man has lost his life in the suspected love triangle. The deceased died shortly upon arrival at the hospital and has since been identified by his family members," Kaloki said.

The police boss call on members of society to be tolerant of each other.

"It does not matter if one has offended or wronged you. There is no justification for killing someone. It is important to exploit other avenues of resolving any arising disputes," Kaloki added.

He said detectives are pursuing the suspect and the woman identified as a foreigner.

The sword used to commit the heinous act was recovered in the bar along with another unused knife.

Detectives said the crime scene characterized by blood stains has since been processed by detectives.

Family and friends who gathered at the morgue expressed shock at how the student was in Kitengela, Kajiado East when he ought to have been in a campus based in Kajiado North while his parents reside in Machakos County.

The deceased will be laid to rest today (November 10) at the Kitengela Muslim cemetery.

Kitengela town is not new to controversy as far as liquor business is concerned.

In September this year, controversial Kitengela bar owner Merceline Atieno aka Mercy Atis stripped naked to protest police arrest after her facility was raided by the law enforcers in what turned into a dramatic scene.

Police officers in conjunction with Kajiado County Liquor Licensing Board working on a tip-off from members of the public raided Motherland bar, a dingy facility that was previously an eatery joint but has turned into a strippers’ club.

When police raided it, tens of naked women were found entertaining revellers while smoking bhang. Others were engaging in group orgies.

To the shock of the Liquor Board members and security apparatus, who later established that the facility situated in Yukos area of Kitengela was operating illegally, its controversial owner Merceline Atieno instead hauled unprintable abuses to the team.

She insisted that the raid was occasioned by a jealous business person before she stripped naked and began intimidating police officers, daring them to kill her.

Her naked revellers scampered for safety to avert being arrested as police watched but the spot was eventually closed. Atieno was also arrested and is being held at Kitengela police station.

Chairman of the Liquor Licensing Board Jonah Marapash ordered the immediate closure of the bar.

"The orgy scenes we have witnessed in this club spell doom to our children. We thank members of the public for giving vital information about what has been going on in this club.

"We are on high alert to tame the operations of nightclubs and bars. We cannot allow open immorality in the name of business and we are going to close all strippers' joints, revoke their licenses, and blacklist their owners," Marapash said.
