Embattled former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko is expected at the Kiambu Law Courts at 11 am but confidential sources have revealed that the ex-City Hall boss has been rushed to the Nairobi Hospital.

The Nairobi ex-governor was taken to hospital on Tuesday morning according to his lawyer, John Khaminwa.

Speaking to K24 Digital, Khaminwa said that they are working round the clock to "see their client" honour his court date.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Tuesday morning, February 9, said that they are waiting for Sonko at the Kiambu Law Courts for the assault and forced entry case.

Thereafter, Sonko is expected to be taken to the Kahawa Law Courts where the state arraigned him over alleged terror links.

In the present court case, detectives are seeking to hold the former governor for 30 days to conclude investigations over Sonko's alleged links to terrorism planning and financing.

Over nine other suspects have also been arrested and are expected in court alongside Sonko as the DCI seeks to detain them also for another 30 days.

On Monday, DCI sources revealed that they are also investigating the circumstances under which Sonko is said to have escaped from Shimo La Tewa Prison over 20 years ago.
