Somali nationals charged with conspiracy to commit act of terrorism

Three Somali terror suspects, among them a 17-year-old minor have been charged with conspiracy to commit an act of terrorism in the country.

The trio Osman Mohammed, Hussein Ibrahim and Mohammed Ibrahim appeared before Mombasa chief magistrate, Martha Mutuku and pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The court heard that the suspects who are Somali nationals conspired to commit the crime in Barsheba area in Kisauni Sub-County within Mombasa county on April 13, 2022.

Mutuku released the suspects on a bond, of Ksh500,000.

"The suspects are hereby released on a bond of Kshs 500,000 with the alternative of a cash bail of Kshs 200,000," she ruled.

The matter was set for mention on, September 8 this year for pre-trial purposes.
