Gospel singer Linet Masiro Munyali, popularly known as Size 8 was over the moon on Friday, August 6, after her song was played during a medals-awards ceremony at the Tokyo Olympics in Japan.

Her song dubbed Mateke was played when Kenya’s 1500m race gold winner Faith Kipyegon was being crowned her medal.

Taking to her Instagram Page, Size 8 was full of gratitude that her song had hit a global audience.

She thanked God that her gospel song got recognized on such a global stage, something she, in all appearances, never dreamt of.

“Uuuuwwwiiii my song #mateke played at the Toyko Olympics in Japan this is God at work uuuuwwii The Gospel of Jesus is alive and a big congratulations to @faithkipyegon for the great win....... God is great Elohim is great praise be to the living God,” she wrote on Instagram.

Mateke song is Size 8’s first music release after she shifted from secular to gospel genre.

It was released in March 2014 and has garnered over 380,000 YouTube views.

The song is one of the greatest music releases that made Size a household name in Kenya.
