A sickly mother of one is crying for help after she was locked in her rental house for five days since Sunday evening for failure to pay a Ksh16,000 rent.

Roselyn Atieno Aguyo, a mother of one claims her landlord Wilson Gacanja and Elizabeth Gitiri Gacanja gave her a written notice to vacate the premises by August 15, 2021, which was on Sunday last week.

It is alleged that Roselyn is locked in Masai Estate flat number 1 in Langata Nairobi county.

On August 15, 2021, when she was packing her belongings and household items, the landlord's agent who has allegedly been habitually harassing and threatening her, and one police officer identified as Murathi Njeru locked the door of her house without caring to check if anyone was in the house.

K24 Digital is in possession of a demand letter dated August 19, 2021, that is addressed to her landlord for unlawful confinement, with demands that Roselyn's door is unlocked immediately.

"Our client has been confined and locked up in your house until today and has been brought food and drugs through the widow by her relatives," part of the letter read.

Lawyer James Kihara continued to say, in the letter, that the health of Roselyn has deteriorated and that she needs urgent medical attention.

"The treatment meted to our client is totally unacceptable and no human being should ever undergo such treatment no matter what they have done," the letter stated.
