In a rare turn of events, unknown people on Sunday, October 7, broke into a church in Vihiga County, pooed in the pastor’s office before finally making away with items of unknown value.

According to church officials, the intention of the thugs remains unknown but they had set November 9 as a day to cleanse the Mumbita Church of God.

Wycliffe Ochieng, who is an official in the church told the media that the church will be cleansed by Church of God pastors in Kenya.

“The main intention to hold the prayers will be to cleanse the church from any evils that might have been left behind by the thugs,” Ochieng said.

He also said that they were yet to establish the worth of items they had stolen but they had already realised that 40 litres of paint were missing.

Ochieng, who is in charge of development in the church said that they were shocked to arrive on Monday, October 8, only to find the mess.

“This is a mystery because the church is well secured,” he said, adding that they also found two cigarettes in the pastor’s office.

Vihiga has witnessed an increased spare of break-ins and the thugs usually defecate before making away with goods.

For instance, two months ago, unknown people broke into ACK St Mark, Emako Parish and stole property worth Ksh150,000.

Local religious leaders have been at the forefront in warning and condemning the acts saying that those behind that would soon get it rough.
