Residents of Muliluni, Mwingi West were left shocked after a 32-year-old man hacked his 24-year-old brother to death before taking his own life.

While confirming the incident, Mwingi Central Sub-county Police Commander Kazungu Charo said the deceased attacked his brother using a panga at their family farm.

Prior to the incident, the two had taken breakfast together before they headed to the farm.

The 24-year-old was rushed to Mwingi Level 4 hospital but died while receiving treatment.

"Upon receiving the news, we visited him in the hospital where he was undergoing multiple stitches. He had a deep cut on the back side of the head, his hands and his back," Kitonga Muasya, a neighbour stated.

Angry neighbours pursuing the attacker broke into their home only to find his body hanging from the roof.

The bodies of the two were moved to Mwingi Level 4 mortuary pending investigations.

Separate incident

The latest comes barely months after a father hacked his two children to death before dumping their bodies in a maize farm.

The bodies of the children aged 10 months and two and a half years had deep cuts on their heads. Police suspected that the babies were hacked using a machete.

The suspect was arrested and is currently under police custody pending arraignment.
