Shock and grief has engulfed Mwokiot village in Chepalungu, Bomet County after a man stabbed his elder brother to death over suspected family differences.

Robert Bett 25, is said to have stabbed his 35 year-old brother on the stomach several times using a machete following the 10pm incident.

According to Kipkeikei sub location chief David Rotich who confirmed the incident the deceased succumbed to his injuries while being rushed to Tenwek Mission Hospital by good Samaritans.

The chief also revealed that the two were in their mother's house taking supper before the younger brother rushed out. Chief Rotich stated that the suspect then waited for his brother outside their mother's house before he pulled out his machete and stabbed him several times before fleeing.

"While we do not know what exactly made the suspect take his brother's life we would like to appeal to the youth to be tolerant to one another, whenever there is an issue let us seek to solve it rather than take matters into our own hands," the chief advised.

Some of the locals who spoke claimed the suspect looked drunk when he returned home from a trading center later that evening.

The 25-year-old suspect later presented himself at Lugumek police station where he is currently being held. The body of the deceased now lies at Tenwek Hospital morgue awaiting a postmortem.
