A 21-year-old Nairobi sex worker has pleaded guilty for stealing a customer's mobile phone after he allegedly failed to pay her Sh400 for service rendered.

Grace Wanjiru, who was arraigned at Milimani Law Courts, was charged with one count of stealing, an offence that occurred on Tuesday, April 6.

The incident occurred at Duruma Road in Nairobi where she stole the phone valued at Sh18,000, the property of Kiprop Victor Beth.

According to police report, the complainant said he was first accosted by the woman on Duruma Road. He said she offered to pleasure him for cash but he declined the invitation.

However, after he rejected her advances, Kiprop told the police that the woman quickly called one of her female friends on phone and they took his smartphone after she arrived.

On the other hand, Wanjiru contradicted Victor's version of the events in court, saying Victor took her to a lodging called Maydene Lodging, after they agreed on a payment of Sh400.

Wanjiru, who revealed that she has been a sex worker for over a year trading her illegal services on Kampala Road, told the court that she took Kiprop's phone because he was reluctant to pay after the act.

She said that she sold off the phone for Sh1,500.

However, Kiprop said he pleaded with the two women to return his phone but they threatened to beat him up.

He said he decided to report the incident on advise from a Maasai man who told him that the women were violent.
